Our brains need to be stimulated to be able to perform well, regardless of our age and/or our daily activities. These stimuli develop connections between the neurons called synapses, and those synapses are responsible for enhancing abilities, such as attention, concentration, memory, motor coordination, creativity, spatial vision and logical reasoning.
Enhancing those abilities directly affects the way people relate with themselves as well as everyone around them. Also, people can perform regular activities with more confidence and better results, it boosts their self-esteem and determination to deal with life’s challenges.
The brain is stimulated by activities like learning, studying, doing puzzles, exercises, playing, having fun, expressing ourselves, reading, listening to music. These are some examples of what participants will experiment during the Brain Gymnastics classes.
Within an hour a week, the participants will be able to role-play in group dynamics, do neurobics (brain exercises), play games (Rummikub, Scrable, Shiritori, Triomino and others) and solve puzzles (Tangram, Sudoku, Kakuro, Strinko, Hashi and others). Each activity will stimulate different areas of the brain and enhance cognitive abilities (attention, concentration, memory, special vision, motor coordination and creativity) – and it is a lot of fun!
Another important tool is the Soroban (Japanese Abacus) which makes it possible to develop the ability to stay focused on the same activity for a long period of time.
The aim is to support the development of their own capacities, helping them to feel that they are in charge of their own lives, able to solve problems, create better solutions and gain the necessary self-confidence to deal with the challenges that we all face daily.
All Brain Gymnastics activities are based on Neuroscience. The participants will also learn how our brains work and all the simple measures they can take to make it function better.
